What system configuration is required to run the program?
A
The program works only on Windows XP and Mac OS X platforms. The program requires an always-on broadband internet connection during installation and to support certain built-in features during run-time. Recommended system configuration: Windows XP or Mac OS X, 512MB RAM, 4GB free internal hard disk space, and a DVD-ROM drive for initial installation. The program does not support the older operating systems including Windows NT, Windows 98, Windows ME, Mac OS 9, or older Mac OS.

Q
How much hard disk space is required?
A
The program requires an internal hard disk space of less than 4GB. Once the program is installed in the hard disk, the installation disk need not be in the drive bay to operate the program.

Q
There is no sound output from my computer when I run the program. What could be the problem and how can I resolve this?
A
Check your system control panel to ensure that your sound output is not muted and that the sound volume is being turned to a nominal setting. Check that the latest version of QuickTime is installed in your system. Sound and video will not function properly without installing QuickTime. The QuickTime installer comes with the program installation disk. You can also download the latest QuickTime from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Q

Q
When I run certain activities, I could not see certain parts of the screen. How do I resolve this problem?
A
This problem was reported by users who use certain notebook PCs and by those whose video output can support multiple monitors. This display problem can be resolved by changing the 'program.ini' file located in the Town4kids program folder under 't4kcontents'. Open 'program.ini' and change the last line <resolution>fullscreen</resolution> to <resolution>800x600</resolution>. Please be careful to ensure the rest of the information is not changed. After you apply this action and re-launch the program, you will notice that some activities will not fill the entire screen but this is perfectly OK and will not affect the functionality of the program.

FAQs on MIDI connection (applicable for MiDisaurus Music only)
Q
Which MIDI keyboards does the program support?
A
The program works with any standard MIDI keyboard (of any brands) as long as it comes with both MIDI IN and MIDI OUT functions. The program does not support MIDI keyboards without built-in sound synthesizers (i.e. dummy keyboards).

Q
Do I require a MIDI keyboard in order to run the program?
A
No, the MIDI keyboard is not a pre-requisite to run the program. The program works without any MIDI keyboard connected to your computer. However, certain activities in the program cater to users who have MIDI keyboards connected so that they can use the built-in MIDI input/output functions in the program. For these activities, user who has MIDI keyboard connected can click on the MIDI Option icon. Once the MIDI Option is turned on, the program will assume that users will continue to run the program with MIDI Option on.

Q
I have connected a MIDI keyboard to my PC but could not get any MIDI input functions to work with the program. What could be the problem?

A

You need to check that your MIDI cable is connected properly to your PC and the MIDI keyboard. At the PC end, it is normally connected to the game port that comes with the sound card. At the MIDI keyboard end, check that the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT are connected correctly (if not, you may need to switch the connection).
Next you need to do the necessary software setup in order to use MIDI functions. Go to the "Control Panel" & select "Multimedia". Follow the menu by selecting "MIDI" tab and then select "external MIDI instrument" and click OK.
