Installation Guide

READ FIRST BEFORE INSTALLATION:

Before you install the program, you must log-in as the ‘administrator’ (not as a ‘guest’) to the computer if you have multiple user accounts for the computer.
>
If your PC does not have Apple QuickTime Player, please install this program first. You can also download the latest QuickTime from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
>

INSTALLATION

1.
Insert the DVD-ROM into your computer's DVD drive.
2.
The program installation should begin automatically. If it does not, perform the following:
- Double click "My Computer" on your desktop.
- Double click the DVD drive icon.
- Double click "Setup.exe" to begin installation.
3.
Select "Primary 1" or "Primary 2" from the installer screen and click "Next".
4.
Select "With Internet Access" if your computer has internet access, otherwise select "Without Internet Access" and click "Next".
5.
Follow the rest of the on-screen instructions to complete installation.

RUNNING THE PROGRAM

With Internet Access:
1.
Double click "eLearning Student" icon on the desktop.
2.
Select City, School and enter the School Code (issued by school teacher) and click "Continue".
3.
Select Class and Name from the lists and click "Log-in".
4.
Select your birth date and click "OK".
5.
Click the orange arrow beside the Lesson box to load lesson plan sent by school teacher, or access the preset lesson plans.

Without Internet Access:
1.
Double click "eLearning Student" icon on the desktop.
2.
Click the orange arrow beside the Lesson box to load the preset lesson plans.

Important Notice:

>
Before you install the program, you must log in as the ‘administrator’ (not as a ‘guest’) to your computer if you have multiple user accounts for the computer.
>
To run the program, users (i.e. students) who log in as ‘guest’ to the computer must have ‘read and write’ access to the installed program folder on the computer.
>
As the program is designed to receive lesson plans from teachers, students will be able to use the program provided teacher has created and assigned the class a lesson plan.

Troubleshooting FAQ
Q.
I encounter the following error when running the eLEARNING program:
“The Ordinal 1334 could not be located in the dynamic link library IML32.dll”.
A.
Update your Adobe Shockwave Player through this link: http://sdc.shockwave.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?
After installing the Adobe Shockwave Player, reboot your computer and run the eLEARNING program again.

Q.
On Windows Vista, I encounter an error "Macromedia Projector has stopped working" upon running the program.
A.
a) Right-click on the program icon on the Desktop and select "Open File Location".
b) You should see a folder named "xtras". Doubleclick to open it and look for a file named "SequenceXtra.x32" and delete it.
c) Run the eLEARNING program again.

Q.
I receive this message "Unable to connect online, please check your Internet connection."
A.
a) Make sure your computer has Internet access.
b) Configure your Firewall software to allow Town4kids eLEARNING to access the Internet.

After installing the Adobe Shockwave Player, reboot your computer and run the STELLAR program again.

Q.
On Windows Vista, I encounter an error "Macromedia Projector has stopped working" upon running the program.
A.
a) Right-click on the program icon on the Desktop and select "Open File Location".
b) You should see a folder named "xtras". Doubleclick to open it and look for a file named "SequenceXtra.x32" and delete it.
c) Run the STELLAR program again.

Q.
I receive this message "Unable to connect online, please check your Internet connection."
A.
a) Make sure your computer has Internet access.
b) Configure your Firewall software to allow Town4kids STELLAR to access the Internet.

d) In the dialog that appears, choose the Compatibility tab, check Run this program in compatibility mode for: (select) Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the drop-down list.
e) Click Apply, then click OK.
